Sex and Violence Coming to Nintendo Wii "The fact is there will be M-rated content on the Wii console... And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is." -- Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime (Source: www.mtv.com)For years, Nintendo has enjoyed a public image of being the family-friendly gaming company. Its recent consoles -- from the Game Boy to the Game Cube to the Nintendo DS -- have featured a wealth of games to bolster that image. But in the near future, several third-party developers will release games that will put adult content on a Nintendo system like never before. And that future starts now... 1. The Godfather: Black Hand Edition - Already in stores, The Godfather has mature Wii players immersing themselves in the role of a bit player in the Corleone saga, carrying out the family's dirty deeds with waves of the Wiimote. 2. Scarface: The World is Yours - Coming in June of 2007, this port of the best-selling title from PS2 and Xbox allows you to partake in M-rated activities like (according to the ESRB): "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Drugs." 3. Manhunt 2 - The first Manhunt game drew loud protests from conservative groups due to its ultra-violent and gory kills. Rockstar Games now brings the franchise to the Wii, which promises to immerse the player like never before in the acting out of gruesome killings using the Wiimote and Nunchuck. 4. No More Heroes - The lead developer at Grasshopper, maker of the infamously violent Killer 7 for the Nintendo Gamecube, has told his team to make this game more violent than Manhunt 2. No More Heroes lead character is an assassin killing his way through an open-world environment filled with competing assassins. 5. Resident Evil 4 6. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - Capcom has yet to officially unveil them, but its Japanese site has already spilled the beans. The latest installment of its genre-defining survival horror franchise, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, will be an 0n-rails shooter delivering all the intensity and gore fans have come to expect from Resident Evil. Plus, Capcom has confirmed rumors that it is porting the highly acclaimed and ultra-violent Resident Evil 4 to the Wii. 7. Driver: Parallel Lines - This mission-based driving game scheduled for a second-quarter release on the Wii has been given the M rating by the ESRB for "Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Blood" 8. Disaster: Day of Crisis - Little is known about the game, aside from the fact that its box art has been shown with an M rating and the game is due out in the US sometime in 2007. The plot is under wraps, but we know you'll be struggling to survive natural disasters while foiling the plot of a villain who has stolen a nuclear weapon. 9. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon - One of the videogaming industry's first franchises to get conservative groups riled up returns with what looks to be the series' most gruesome entry yet, due for the Wii on May 14, 2007. 10. Grand Theft Auto ... ? - IV is making its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360 this year, but few expect the next-gen title to make its way to the Wii. However, this speculation doesn't keep GTA and Wii fan sites from discussing the possibilities of Take Two releasing a Wii-specific GTA title to take advantage of the Wii's ever-growing install base.
