Whether you're new to the world of podcasting, or just need some fresh podcasts to listen to, we have 10 that are must-listens.

These reflect our personal tastes, so there's a definite tech-geek vibe going through this list, but each is produced with a deep passion for the subject matter, which makes them all fascinating, entertaining listens no matter your level of interest in the subject matter.

All are available as free subscriptions via the iTunes Music Store, or can be found at the sites linked below.

1. GeeksOn
-
A "podcast by geeks, for geeks, covering things geeks like to talk about." Filmmaker and graphic designer Aaron Hendricks (and brother of ultra-hottie Christina Hendricks of Serenity fame, who has been known to drop by), writer Peter Robinson, actor Matt Yang King, and videogame industry professional Donald Marshall gather multiple times a month to chat up the latest movies, videogames, TV, comics, role-playing games and anything else that has stirred the passion of their inner geeks. http://www.geekson.com/

2. 1Up Yours - A weekly glimpse inside the videogame industry hosted by top editors of Ziff Davis Publishing's 1UP family of publications and sites (Electronic Gaming Monthly, Game Videos, etc.). Regular hosts John Davison, Garnett Lee and Shane Bettenhausen run down gaming headlines inserting their behind-the-scenes knowledge, and welcoming special guests from game design studios and publishers. http://www.1up.com/

3. This Week in Tech - Widely regarded as the leader in technology podcasts, This Week in Tech is led by one of the top personalities in podcasting, Leo LaPorte, and features a cadre of his comrades from the short-lived TechTV cable network including Patrick Norton, John C. Dvorak, Kevin Rose, and others. An entertaining look at technology that will help you hold your own when talking about tech headlines with fellow geeks. http://www.twit.tv/

4. Jordan, Jesse GO! - Jesse Thorn, who also produces The Sound of Young America podcast (also definitely worth a listen), gets together with pal Jordan Morris for fun discussions of pop culture and special segments like "Would You Rather...", a game in which a guest listener is posed with an absurd question like "Would you rather have sandpaper hands, or be forced to eat only food that you have hunted or gathered?" You may think you know the answer, but then again, you may be wrong. http://www.maximumfun.org

5. Diggnation - Kevin Rose, founder of Digg.com, and co-conspirator from the Tech TV days, Alex Albrecht, plop down on one or the other's couch each week for some beers and a review of some of the week's top stories on social news site Digg.com. Their take on the news is hilarious, irreverent and almost always profane, so make sure young ears are nowhere nearby. You've been warned. http://www.diggnation.com/

6. Downloadable Content - If you're a fan of the hilarious online comic Penny Arcade (and if you're not, what's the matter with you?) you need to hear this podcast to eavesdrop on series creators Mike Krahulik (AKA Gabe) and Jerry Holkins (AKA Tycho Brahe) as they brainstorm their latest strip. A great look inside the twisted minds of two online geek heroes. http://www.penny-arcade.com/

7. The Onion Radio News - The mad geniuses behind the hysterical fake newspaper The Onion produce a brief daily podcast, each focusing on just one absurd story. If you like these headlines, you need some Onion on your iPod: "Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Honors Tuskegee Air Guitarists," "Fate Of Soul Uncertain After Mid-Baptismal Drowning," "Pepsi May Have Used Faulty Taste-Test Results To Lead Nation Into Cola Wars." http://www.theonion.com/content/radionews

8. Business Week - The editors of one of the world's finest business journals offer a fascinating behind the scenes look at the week's cover story. Even if your eyes glaze over at the words leveraged buyout or market cap reduction, you'll still enjoy the insights and anecdotes that didn't make it into the magazine. How did they land that impossible interview? What were the writer's favorite facts or quotes that got cut? Listen and find out. http://www.businessweek.com

9. Cranky Geeks - John C. Dvorak, a contributing editor at PC Magazine and also one of the TWITS on This Week in Tech (see above), moderates this weekly roundtable of technology pundits. Much like John McLaughlin on PBS, Dvorak will poll his panelists on the topic of the hour, hear them out then bark at them, explaining why they're wrong. Sometimes insightful, often irritating, but always engaging. http://www.crankygeeks.com

1o. Go Nintendo - While many of the podcasts on this list have the slick sheen of high production values, GoNintendo sounds like it's recorded in the host's basement with his friends in various states of inebriation. And that's exactly what it is. But it's also full of fun that's infectious, as the Nintendo enthusiasts espouse upon the stories featured on the group's GoNintendo.com website. http://www.gonintendo.com/
