Panasonic's new 800U and 850U series of VIERA plasma televisions has the gadget world buzzing about new features that promise
to make these models the ultimate in home theatre upgrades, but are they the best HDTVs for your dollar?

The Panasonic VIERA series 850U models are being called the most detailed plasma TVs in the world, and the specifications would suggest

The TH-50PZ850U boasts an impressive native contrast ratio of 30,000:1, which is an increase vs. prior models from Panasonic of a similar size.
Plus, the dynamic contrast ratio (theoretically possible number when backlighting and other effects are taken into account)

The VIERA HDTVs include VIERA link, which allows you to operate other home theater components by pushing one button on the TH-50PZ850U's
remote control, assuming the other devices are hooked into the set via HDMI. And speaking of HDMI, you should be well covered there,
as the TH-50PZ850U offers 4 HDMI inputs and a wealth of other video and audio connections.
Completing the movie theatre experience is a sound system that includes a 31-watt, 4-speaker setup and BBE Viva HD3D sound to simulate
