Samsung has rolled out its 81 Series of LCD televisions with great style, offering several models of HDTVs delivering up to 100,000:1 contrast ratios.
The LN-T4081F, empowered by Samsung's new LED Smart Lighting system, can deliver picture brightness and clarity not yet seen on an LCD before.
Add in the eye-pleasing effects of 120Hz screen refreshing to eliminate motion blur, and you have a next generation television that must be seen to be belived. This is a 1080p HDTV unlike anything on the market. Here's a quick review of its features:
The LN-T4081F's Wide Color Gamut LED Backlight truly is the star of the show. While other sets feature more common fluorescent backlighting, Samsung's 81 Series of HDTVs have employed an LED system that allows the backlighting behind the darkest sections of the screen to shut down completely, making black tones some of the deepest, most accurate blacks seen on LCDs to date.
You'll still find that the LN-T4081F displays fine detail in scenes featuring shadows, but the "light leak" that often obscures the picture on lesser LCDs is not a problem here. You'll see bright, vibrant color as close to what the filmmakers intended you to see as possible.
But don't let it be said that image brilliance is the one trick of Samsung's 81 Series. The LN-T4081F and other models in the line-up also feature the SRS TruSurround XT sound system to deliver movie theater quality sound in your own home.
So if you're sold on LCD being superior vs. plasma (both technologies have their perks, but LCDs seem to be gaining ground these days), a 40" screen is the right size for your viewing room (with seats about 8 to 10 feet from the screen), and you don't mind paying a bit more for one of the most spectacular LCD HDTVs on the market today, definitely give the LN-T4081F your full consideration.
